Pints for Pets 2014 is this weekend!

Since it’s inception, I have proudly served on the Pints for Pets Brewfest Planning Committee. Over our seven year history, Pints for Pets has raised nearly $400,000 to benefit the good work of the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. With over 3,000 attendees and $90,000 raised for the Central PA Humane Society, Pints for Pets 2013 was a record-breaking year! All of our committee members (Rick Vanevenhoven, Jordanna Gerraughty, Sue Richard, Bill Croft, David Cassidy, Joe Murgo, James Gerraughty and Adam Lucci) have been hard at work since November – putting together in what we hope will be another stellar year. Every year, this event get bigger and more exciting.

Our upcoming 2014 Beer Festival will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014, again at the People’s Natural Gas Field in Altoona. Tickets ARE STILL AVAILABLE. Join me and 3,000 of your friends in this tasting event of craft beers from over 90 breweries from across the state, country and around the world! This high-energy event is this region’s largest brewfest and continues to grow in popularity – many people consider this event as the kickoff of the summer season and is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year in Blair County. In fact, Pints for Pets is now one of the the largest brew festivals in Western PA and surrounding states. It is truly great time for a great cause! 100% of ticket proceeds directly benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society takes in over 5,000 animals that have been surrendered, abandoned, or stray. The Central PA Humane Society’s receive no government support nor regional or national organization assistance.  It’s only means of raising funds is through donations and events such as Pints for Pets.

Friends enjoying some microbrews

Session One is at 1pm to 4pm. ($35) – If you are beer snob like me, this is the session to attend since its less crowded and you’ll have more opportunities to talk to the brewers and talk craft. The second session is when the big party happens and its from 6pm to 9pm. ($40)
I like to thank our generous sponsors, especially the ones I called personally. Our sponsors help us to pay for the operating costs for this event so all the ticket proceeds can go toward the pets. If you happen to know of a sponsor, please let them know how much you love our event and appreciate their support. We could never have such an event without their help.
So if haven’t had the opportunity to come to Pints for Pets, please do so – this is the year to do so! Enjoy just over 300 different beers! Joe Murgo will be MC-ing the event and be sure to join in one some fun games.  There will also be two bands each session. Finally, say hello if you see me. I will be the “floor manager” for both sessions. With me being on my feet for 14+ hours, it is actually great ultra-marathon training! And please say thanks to the volunteers in the pink shirts for their hard work and to the brewers whom many will travel a long way – away from their families and jobs – just to be at this event.
Again, see you this Saturday and thanks for supporting Pints for Pets!
